The Court of Accounts will audit the Ministry of Defense

On January 13, a meeting of starting two audit missions to the Ministry of Defense was held by the auditors of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CARM).

Andrei Munteanu, member of the Court of Accounts and Tatiana Vozian, head of the General Department, presented to the Ministry of Defense management the audit teams within the General Department of Methodology, Planning and Reporting, responsible for carrying out the audit missions: Audit of the consolidated financial reports of the Ministry of Defense concluded at December 31, 2019 and Audit of public procurement compliance within the Ministry of Defense system in 2019.

The audit missions will be carried out at the Ministry of Defense and some subordinate entities in accordance with the International Auditing Standards applied by the Court of Accounts, in order to obtain sufficient and relevant evidence to provide reasonable assurance that, under all the significant aspects, the consolidated financial statements of the Ministry of Defense concluded on December 31, 2019, present a fair and accurate image in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework and, as a whole, do not contain significant distortions. Similarly, in the context of the second audit mission, the Court of Accounts will evaluate the compliance of the public procurement process within the Ministry of Defense system.

We mention that according to Law no. 260 from 07.12.2017 on the organization and functioning of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova, carrying out the annual financial audit of the ministries' reports on the execution of the budgets in the financial year ended is a must forthe supreme audit institution of the Republic of Moldova.
