The latest developments in the institutional consolidation process and the future plans were discussed today, June 11th 2018 in the meeting of the President of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoA), Mr. Veaceslav Untila with the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Mr. Ambassador Peter Michalko.
The Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) endeavors to assimilate and implement the assistance provided by the external development partners, the beneficiary of which is the CoA, Mr. Untila noted. The President of the CoA informed the high official about the current aspects of the cooperation with the experts under the projects implemented by the EU Delegation to Moldova, the Swedish National Audit Office and the Netherlands Court of Audit.
Mr. Untila, also, spoke about the process of certification of public auditors, one of the main objectives of institutional development, foreseen in the CoA’s Strategic Development Plan for the period 2016-2020. According to the President of the CoA, the institution is in the process of finalizing the regulation and other normative documents related to the general certification of CoA’s public auditors, as well as of developing the training modules for the personnel. Certification of auditors is an ambitious objective for the CoA, this process being organized in a few foreign supreme audit institutions, Mr. Untila informed, noting that the institution will make every effort to record positive results and raise the professionalism level of auditors.
The EU Delegation to Moldova supports the CoA’s institutional consolidation activities and will continue to support the national supreme audit institution, Mr.Peter Michalko said. The Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova approached the importance of SAI’s communication and collaboration with verified entities by promoting the support role of the CoA during the audit missions.
The EU Delegation in Moldova is one of the Court's constant partners in the consolidation and institutional development process. This year, two experts under European projects provide assistance to the national supreme audit institution on issues related to improving the ability to conduct financial audit, as well as optimizing institutional management, planning and reporting processes.
