The Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM) was mentioned by the evaluators as one of the implementing institutions, which demonstrated involvement and contribution to the successful implementation of the National Integrity and Anticorruption Strategy (NIAS) for the years 2017-2020.
On September 19, a round of discussions was organized with the participation of the CoARM’s team, led by Petru Rotaru, Member of the Court of Accounts. The discussions were organized at the request of the NCO "Center for Analysis and Prevention of Corruption", which carries out the NIAS impact assessment exercise.
Petru Rotaru speaking about the achievements and challenges in the Strategy implementation process, especially with reference to Pillar V: the Court of Accounts, the priorities "Transparency of the activity of the Court of Accounts" and "Impact of the audit activity". Also, the CoARM’s Member addressed the importance of achieving the impact of the audit activity, promoting it within the communication with the interested parties, as well as the efforts made by the CoARM in this context.
The participants discussed the actions taken by the CoARM to strengthen its capacities, ensure the quality of the audit activity, including the support provided in the context by the development partners and the role of the relevant organizations. A separate segment was the subject of collaboration with the investigation bodies, in cases of suspected fraud and corruption, as well as international, national and domestic regulations in this regard.
