The representative of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM), successfully completed the 5-month internship program organized by the European Court of Auditors (ECA), which focused on capacity building and knowledge sharing between supreme audit institutions in candidate countries for European Union accession.

In this context, we mention that Marina Cataraga, auditor of the CoARM, was the first participant from the Court of Accounts in this program offered by ECA.

During the internship, the CoARM’s auditor got to know the theoretical and practical aspects of the audit process within the ECA, the institution's modality of activity, its strategy and audit methodology. At the same time, in addition to the theoretical aspects carried out in the form of trainings, workshops, the participant was involved in the audit activity alongside the teams of auditors of the European Court of Auditors.

During the internship, the representative of the Court of Accounts had the opportunity to actively participate in the working meetings of the audit teams, as well as in the professional meetings with the involvement of the members of the Court, as well as the representative of the European Commission, in the field of competence related to the activity of the Audit Chamber II of the ECA, etc.

The auditor had the opportunity to share her knowledge and experience with other auditors from the Supreme Audit Institutions of the candidate countries for joining the European Union, such as Serbia, Albania and Turkey.

We mention that the internship program is organized by the European Court of Auditors twice a year, and since the Republic of Moldova obtained the status of a candidate country for accession to the European Union, the CoARM’s auditors can benefit from the opportunity to apply to this program.
