The official visit of the UNDP delegation to the Court of Accounts

On 20 September 2016, an official delegation of the UNDP Support for Democracy Programme visited the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoA).

The management of the CoA discussed with the members of the UNDP, Blerim Vela, Specialist Parliamentary UNDP Moldova, Geoff Dubroff, international expert UNDP in parliamentary oversight, Victoria Muntean, Project Coordinator, UNDP Democracy Support, issues related to the external support for institutional capacity building.

Within the program is being implemented the UNDP project "Strengthening the parliamentary governance in Moldova", through which to the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova is being provided the support on improving the lawmaking capacity, the oversight process and representation, in accordance with the international parliamentary standards.

Parliament's supervisory capacity building is a priority filed in the project. The support is provided, in particular, to the Parliamentary standing committees to improve the capacities in order to effectively examine the CoA reports.

To implement the planned activities, it has been contracted an international expert who provides support in strengthening the cooperation between the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Court of Accounts, in order to improve its ex-post supervisory.

Among the planned project activities, the UNDP expert in the parliamentary oversight, Geoff Dubroff, will develop recommendations for improving the cooperation between the parliament and the supreme audit institution, organizing capacity-building activities, with the participation of the representatives of both institutions.

On 21 September 2016, under the UNDP project "Strengthening the parliamentary governance in Moldova" will be organized a workshop on "Strengthening the Cooperation with the Parliament", with the participation of the management and the employees of the CoA.
