The Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM) will continue to receive support and assistance from the European Union Delegation in Moldova, aimed at developing the function of external public audit in the country.

President of the Court of Accounts, Tatiana Șevciuc, and the EU Ambassador to Moldova, Jānis Mažeiks, discussed the achievements and future priorities of the CoARM during a meeting held on July 24.

The priorities of the Supreme Audit Institution stem from the country's commitments in the context of European integration and are reflected in the National Action Plan for Integration and the Action Plan for implementing the recommendations from the SIGMA Report on Public Administration Principles, noted President Șevciuc. She informed the high-ranking official about the progress in implementing actions related to external audit, as well as the challenges faced by the institution in this process.

During the discussion, topics of interest such as ensuring the quality of CoARM's activities, auditing state-owned enterprises, the level of implementation of recommendations by local public authorities (LPA) and central public authorities (CPA), auditing external funds, and the contribution of the Court of Accounts to implementing the country's European Agenda through its activities in the negotiation chapter working groups were addressed.

The EU Ambassador emphasized the important role of the Court of Accounts in holding state entities accountable for the efficient management of public funds and assured ongoing support and assistance from the EU Delegation for the development and strengthening of CoARM's institutional capacities.
