2016 MACRO International Conference

On 30 September, the Independent Analytical Center "Expert Group" in partnership with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, have organized the fourth edition of the annual international conference "MACRO 2016" on "overcoming the economic crisis: it's time to act".

This year, the fourth edition of the international conference hosted 13 speakers from five countries: Georgia, Armenia, France, Romania and the Republic of Moldova and over 100 participants, including leaders and policy makers, representatives of local governments and private sector, domestic and foreign experts, representatives of civil society organizations and academia from Moldova.

The event was attended by Sergiu Cioclea, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Armine Khachatryan, Permanent representative of IMF in Moldova, Dimitri Gvindadze, Permanent representative of EBRD in Moldova, Ridha Teka, President of BC "Mobiasbanca - Groupe Societe Generale" ltd., Nathan Garştea, chief economist, Governor Advisor at the National Bank of Moldova.

Violeta Balan, Head of public relations and image, represented the Court of Accounts.

The conference aimed to provide a platform for comprehensive discussion on the economic, political and social and security risks and opportunities for the Republic of Moldova, and how they shape the economic trajectory of Moldova.

During the fourth edition of the annual MACRO international conference were discussed on feasible strategies for overcoming the current economic, financial and social crisis in Moldova. Participants were invited to discuss on the innovative policy recommendations, which would place the Moldovan economy on the path of development, to ensure macro-financial stability and to diminish the social impact on socially vulnerable population.

At the conference was launched the "State of the Country Report". This report serves as an analytical support for the discussions that took place during the MACRO conference and covers topics that marked the financial and social sector, as well the human capital - as a tool to restore the competitive advantage of Moldova.
