The Court of Accounts in dialogue with the evaluators of the “Istanbul AAP” Program

Sergiu Știrbu, Member of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CoARM) participated, on April 26, in the discussion session with the experts of the 5th official round of monitoring the evaluators of the subregional peer evaluation program "Anti-corruption Action Plan from Istanbul". The event was organized by the National Anticorruption Center (NAC), in the context of the international evaluation mission, held between April 25-27 this year.

The experts of the Anti-corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ACN) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) undertake a visit to the Republic of Moldova to discuss with the national authorities regarding the areas of performance evaluated in the framework of completing the Evaluation Questionnaire of the - 5th official monitoring rounds of the "Istanbul anti-corruption action plan" subregional peer review program.

During the evaluation, the ACN/OECD experts discussed with the relevant national authorities the progress made by our country in nine performance areas, namely: "Anti-corruption policies", "Conflict of interest and income declaration", "Whistleblower protection", "Integrity in business", "Integrity in public procurement", "Independence of the judicial system", "Independence of the Prosecutor's Office", "Authorities specialized in combating corruption ” and “Implementation of anti-corruption measures”.

CoARM was invited to participate in the discussions regarding the "Integrity of public procurement" performance area, as an expert, in the context of the audits carried out in the field, with the discussion of CoARM's findings and recommendations for improving the situation in the field.

According to the agenda, 17 public institutions will be subject to this evaluation, including: NAC, the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency, the Parliament, the Ministry of Justice, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the National Integrity Authority, etc., but also five state enterprises. At the end of the monitoring, the ACN/OECD experts will draw up a report, which will reflect the current situation in the Republic of Moldova in the mentioned chapters.
