The workshop on accounting and auditing standards

On October 10-11, 2016, in Minsk, Belarus was held the seminar on "Improving the audit quality for a more transparent and accountable economy."

The works of the program "Improving the audit and the reporting in the Eastern Partnership" (STAREP) began since 2013 and is financed by the Austrian Development Agency and the Ministry of Finance of Austria. The program was developed to support Eastern European countries to consolidate an effective and stable accounting and auditing system.

Representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine attended the seminar.

Tamara Andrusca, member of the Court of Accounts, represented the Republic of Moldova.

The seminar was dedicated to the practical application and the impact of the audit standards on the economy and on the government representatives. The aim was to deepen the participants' understanding of the proper role of the audit, to increase transparency of state enterprises and private sector, and to facilitate the discussions on the first steps in establishing a reliable system of quality assurance.

The participants have had the opportunity to discuss a range of topics within each country delegation and the opportunities for the improvement in the accounting and auditing.

The participants will make a detailed analysis of the joint action plans, which will be updated and implemented over the remaining term under the program on training practices in accounting and auditing (EduCoP) STAREP.
