Combating corruption, discussed with the counterparts in Hungary

Mr. Petru Rotaru, Member of the CoA, met with Mr. Laszlo Domokos, President of the SAI of Hungary in the period 24-28 April 2017, at the international workshop on the Integrity Project, organized in Budapest, by the SAI of Hungary.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects of cooperation on areas of common interest, Mr. Petru Rotaru expressing the gratitude for the opportunity to know their experience on the fight against corruption through the implementation of the integrity project.

In the same context, Mr. Rotaru expressed the importance of promoting integrity in the public sector and the fight against corruption, identifying corruption as a major threat to ensuring good governance, in the same time specifying that the implementation of the integrity project is an important tool in contracting this scourge. In this context, the cultivation and promotion of integrity-based organizational culture and zero tolerance of corruption in public institutions is an extremely important objective for the Republic of Moldova as well.

Hungarian SAI President Laszlo Domokos welcomed the participation of the CoA delegation for this forum and revealed the complexity of the integrity project, pointing out that its implementation will be long lasting. It has also been mentioned that, taking good practices, the participants at the workshop will be better trained to help strengthen the national integrity system.

The workshop was a continuation of the International Seminar on "Integrity of the Public Sector and Ethical Leadership" conducted by Hungarian colleagues from February 27 to March 3, 2017.
